McDonald’s Removes Fake Ingredients From Burgers

McDonald’s is stripping artificial ingredients found in the buns, cheese and sauce on some of its best-known burgers like the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese and burgers in Happy Meals, and claims these items are now free from artificial preservatives, flavors and coloring. According to the WSJ report, the company has also replaced high-fructose corn syrup with sugar in its buns, removed artificial preservatives from Chicken McNuggets and reverted to butter instead of liquid margarine in Egg McMuffins.

As McDonald’s this year started making Quarter Pounders in the U.S. with fresh beef, and also removed preservatives from some of its food items, this will mean that its food inventory will have a shorter shelf life for some products. The fast-food chain also switched the American cheese on its burgers and removed the sorbic acid preservatives from the cheese.
