Telegram will reportedly introduce feature to protect identity of Hong Kong protesters

Kudos to Telegram here for moving quickly. In case you missed it, the concern was that it could be possible to identify Hong Kong protesters because Telegram matches entries in a user's phonebook with contacts in Telegram. That would allow anyone -- potentially Chinese agents -- to create endless/random phone book entries and thereby identify protesters who use Telegram's username function to cloak their identity.
