In Montreal, an Electrifying Win for a Long-Shot Who Campaigned on Better Transit and Cycling

In the previous issue, one of the articles on Canadian cities was about the mayoral election in Montreal happening that very day, and good news came out of it! Valérie Plante will be the city's new mayor, and she wants to be known as  the “Mayor of Mobility.” To achieve that, she wants to add 300 buses, reduce fares for low-income people, build 140 kilometres of bike lanes, and add a new metro line to connect poor neighbourhoods in the north of the city to the downtown core. Montreal will definitely be a place to watch over the next few years as Plante institutes her agenda.
