Nature-based climate action no longer ‘the forgotten solution’

Western countries pay peanuts to retain forest cover in developing countries.

While technology solutions can help western countries reduce their carbon footprint, a small fraction of their costs can enable a larger forest cover in developing countries. This low cost ‘solution’ would work much better if forest produce could be commercialised on a large scale, but that would require many large investments than the few hundred million dollars being allocated currently. The west needs to share much more than it currently does with the developing world, if it did, a large range of climate change solutions would become feasible.
