India’s largest bank SBI leaked account data on millions of customers

The first of two significant data leaks reported on by my TechCrunch colleague Zack Whittaker. An unsecured server left the financial information on millions of its customers, including bank balances and recent transactions, visible to anyone who knew where to look.

In another incident, the state of Jharkhand exposed the private information of 166,000 workers, including names, job titles, partial phone numbers and their Aadhaar numbers. That's down to a web storage system that hasn't been secured with a password since its creation in 2014.
