MTA Unveils a Bus Turnaround Plan We Can Believe In

After Gov. Cuomo changed his mind on congestion pricing, it looked like there wouldn't be much good news for NYC transit, but that's not the case!

As NYC's traffic congestion got worse, buses became less reliable and ridership dropped, but a new plan from the MTA hopes to turn things around. Some of the headline aspects of the plan include all-door boarding, more priority for buses (including dedicated bus lanes), and a review of the whole system (which hasn't seen much change in decades).

Alon Levy at Pedestrian Observations took a look at the plan, and while he criticized the MTA's failure to learn from German and East Asian cities on their chosen payment system, he was otherwise pretty positive about it.
