A Record Year Amid a Pandemic: US Edtech Raises $2.2 Billion in 2020

Edtech startups in the U.S. raised $2.2 billion in venture capital and private equity in 2002, a 30% increase over 2019 and a record high for any single year. While the pandemic surely contributed to the increase, it also reflects a continuation of a trend in recent years. More than half of the money went to companies in the Bay Area, with New York a distant second.
