Nintendo is finally getting on smartphone platforms

The Innovator's Dilemma (Clayton Christensen) asserts that large companies tend to ignore new technology or business models that do not correspond to their customers' current needs; thereby failing to prepare for these same customers' unstated or future needs. Nintendo has been a clear example, refusing to embrace mobile devices as it would 1) cannibalise existing business and 2) force a business model reinvention. Now the Japanese giant is finally, reluctantly, moving into the smartphone era. Further proof that being an innovator yesterday doesn't guarantee you will be one tomorrow.
