The Cable Cowboy, Isn’t Ready to Hang Up His Spurs

Nice profile of John Malone by Gerry Smith. One quote that stood out:

“[Netflix] has become the guy that everyone wants to be now and few will. We’re just beginning to see that. The Fox-Disney deal is just an indicator of what the target is.”

He gets it. Unlike, say, Jim Keyes, the former CEO of Blockbuster who just 10 years ago said the following to the Motley Fool:

“Neither RedBox nor Netflix are even on the radar screen in terms of competition. It’s more Wal-Mart and Apple.”
