New state data showing a continued increase in the presence of fentanyl in opioid deaths highlights the need for action to combat trafficking of the synthetic opioid, U.S. Sen. Ed Markey said. Earlier this year, Markey and Sen. Marco Rubio filed a bill that would give border patrol agents technology, including chemical screening devices, to help them identify and seize illicit fentanyl before it enters the country.
