The Economics of Free Speech, From Charlottesville to the Women’s March

This investigative article details the costs local city governments have to bear to protect every rally and the free speech of its residents. For every rally the city provides protection for, there is a trickle-down effect in a shortage of funds left to tackle on affordable housing, homelessness, subsidized programs etc. Since Trump took office, there have been over 8,700 rallies across the U.S.
