A now-familiar story: Investors say they overvalued a high-flying digital publisher. Disney now says it's worthless. I admit. It felt so cool to be near to them, and it also felt like they were not making money, just spending it.

Is this proof that the advertising model is a losing model? Mic: gone. Vox not a big player after five years. De Correspondent not really taking off in the US. BuzzFeed going through massive layoffs. Upworthy: anyone? What is happening to all those startups we used to be envious about? I do not see them becoming mainstream.
