Talks about single council for Cumbria fall flat

Could it be that the government has been far too busy dealing with something else to scrutinise the county council's proposals for one, or two, unitary authorities to replace Cumbria's seven councils? Yes, according to Labour leader Stewart Young:

Cllr Young, the Labour leader, has complained that he has had “no response” to the letter which was sent seven weeks ago.
"The ball is very firmly in the Government’s court. We have followed it up and will continue to follow it up."
