Q&A With Ethereum Co-founder Joe Lubin

Joe Lubin, founder of ConsenSys and co-founder of Ethereum, is one of the most influential and well-respected voices in the blockchain space. He spearheaded the launch of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance, the largest blockchain consortium in the world that boasts JP Morgan and Microsoft as members. He has a very long-term perspective on blockchain technology, always talking about how much good it will do for humanity as opposed to more short-term oriented aspects like the price of crypto assets today.

X: Blockchain is built on the Internet, but does it become bigger than the Internet?
JL: One of my [presentation] slides basically tried to indicate that Web 1.0 was, say, X, and Web 2.0—social and mobile—was, say, 10x. Web 3.0—trusted transactional infrastructure on blockchain—will be 100x. And once you start bringing in the entire machine economy, that’s going to be even bigger. Absolutely, it’s going to be enormous.
