Google launches new tool to help cities stay cool - The Verge

Cities are typically hotter than their rural neighbors because of the urban heat island effect, and climate change is making urban areas even hotter. Google debuted a new tool called Tree Canopy Lab in an effort to help keep cities like Los Angeles cool by helping them plant more trees.
