Innovation Happens When Universities Partner with K-12 on IT-Enabled Solutions

MIT and Georgia Tech have partnered with school districts in Boston and Denver, respectively, to overhaul their bus routes. The universities used algorithms to determine more efficient routes, which resulted in shorter walking distances to bus stops for students, fewer numbers of buses, reduced costs, and a smaller carbon footprint. This provides a glimpse into what will hopefully be a growing trend of collaboration between higher ed and K-12 education in the edtech space.
