Robot squeezes suspected nuclear fuel debris in Fukushima reactor

This is interesting because Sellafield has plenty of experience using robots to help decommission some of the site's most dangerous areas, and it should come as no surprise that similar technology is being used in Japan:

The dextrous robot was dangled into the Unit 2 reactor on February 13th, according to a news release from the plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). Unit 2 is one of the reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant that overheated after a massive earthquake and tsunami hit Japan in 2011, which caused the reactor core to melt
