Alibaba smashes its Single’s Day record once again as sales cross $25 billion

More 11/11 madness as total GMV -- which represents a dollar value for sales across all Alibaba platforms, not take-home revenue -- grew 39% on the previous year. Alibaba handled 812 million orders and 1.5 billion payment transactions. Last year saw year-on-year growth dip, but the figure bounced back this weekend which investors will take as a positive sign. Alibaba is increasingly keen to globalize this shopping day -- both to overseas audiences and through its localized services in India, Southeast Asia and beyond -- so you can expect that to be a larger focus on 11/11 2018.
