Stop saying technology is causing social isolation

The first time I heard someone criticize technology as being anti-social was in high school when the classmate who ironically helped get me into technology told me he would never use an instant messaging service because chatting via the Internet was not "real conversation." Boy was he wrong.  

The problem comes when people agree to meet with or spend time with people in the physical world and then decide that they'd rather chat with the person in their phone instead of the person sitting across the table from you who blocked out time and commuted across town for you. Many would find that rude. But is it rude if you glance quickly at your Apple Watch to read  a message reply while having drinks with friends? The verdict is out on that. Things are changing so quickly, that it's difficult for social norms to keep up.
