Squishy Robot hands Might Fit Like a Glove In the O.R.

While soft robotics isn't a new problem, it's not a solved problem either, as highlighted by several articles this week. Stanford researcher Giada Gerboni's work on soft robotics shows that taking a squishier approach to robots makes them more adaptable to unexpected environments and better at handling delicate objects with care. Applications range from surgical handling of human organs to packing donuts – hopefully with a thorough hand-washing in between.
