The ongoing battle between agency and consultancy

It is easier than ever to start an Agency. Consultancies are buying Agencies to understand products and users. Agencies are becoming Consultancies for greater impact and reward.

The world is moving too quickly to understand whether either model is compatible in 2020+. I do see a need for experts that probe, use data, understand users and solve problems. I also see the reward mechanism change - up-front costs making way for joint ventures and commission on performance so even cash-strapped startups can gain access to specialist skills without the need for high-risk venture capital. We shall see.
