Facebook secures digital rights for ICC cricket events

Facebook has been trying to get a foothold in India's streaming market for the longest -- throwing big money at deals hasn't worked so far -- and now it has a foothold. This deal, the price is undisclosed, is likely a start -- that's because it doesn't include live-streaming and is instead post-match highlights and in-game replays.

Live cricket has helped Hotstar, India's streaming leader based on users, clock massive audiences (including a record 18.6M concurrent viewers) to boost its service, which has Netflix-like programming as well as sports.
