Sociometrics. Never heard of them before. In this case it is a little card people are wearing around their neck. It measures body language, how often people meet. And it turns out that the best predictor of good performance is a team’s energy and engagement outside formal meetings. There is a case where the coffee break is scheduled so that everyone on a team took a break at the same time. That would allow people more time to socialize with their teammates, away from their workstations. It worked. The manager forecasts 15 million dollars in yearly productivity increase thanks to better communication between coworkers.
