There’s a term you use a lot: traumatic dieting. You also describe something called “post-traumatic dieting disorder.” People define trauma differently, but does dieting rise to the level? It does.

I meet people where, not only are they disappointed with their lack of success with dieting, but the impact of their lack of success is far more [intense] than simple disappointment. They are deeply traumatized by the experience, especially when they repeat the cycle over time.
