Living Rat Muscles Power Robotic Fingers

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed a biohybrid finger capable bending at the joint and picking up a loop and setting it back down. The living muscle tissue, grown from rat cells, responds to electrical currents that force it to contract and deliver 90 degrees of motion. Rats are known to be good swimmers, which perhaps comes in handy as the current generation of cyborg rat fingers only function underwater.
