Walton County isn't sure if it wants electric scooters


On Wednesday, a public workshop was held at the South Walton Courthouse Annex to discuss new state legislation concerning electric scooters.

According to the Walton Sun,

In July, state legislation declared that certain forms of “micromobility” — including electric scooters, electric bicycles and electric skateboards — will be allowed in all areas where standard bicycles are permitted.

Legislation also gave local governments the ability to regulate private businesses that would profit from renting out these gadgets.

Some people believe the scooters would be a good way to avoid busy streets, while others saw them as a safety hazard and were in favor of tighter regulations.
