Furhat Robotics Projects Emotions

Furhat Robotics' design of a “human face” for AI  is a blank mask onto which moving faces are projected to convey emotions and expressions -- part of the larger field of affective computing.

Will projecting a human face onto a social robot be convincing enough to make humans more comfortable in their interactions with it? The devil will be in the details. The approach may be just simple enough to convey emotion without falling into the Uncanny Valley of being too real, but not real enough.

Then again, the wide-eyed doll face is pretty creepy.
