How ‘Verbal Aikido’ Can Help You Avoid Stupid Arguments

I have practiced the (martial) art of Aikido to better handle conflicts in my life, at work and in private. Interestingly, Don Johnson practices "verbal Aikido". Although arguments are inevitable, with humility, curiosity, we can find our way back to empathy with the ones we care for. He also wrote a practical guide how to deal with difficult people without losing your mind. Great pointers to improve our interpersonal skills, since tension and conflict are apt to surface more easily now that we have less energy gainers in our lives. People under stress are more likely to display a “bad day” version of themselves and emotions close to the surface are easily triggered.
