AT&T is putting a price on privacy

We live in a world where privacy has a price. AT&T allows gigabit service subscribers to opt out of being spied on - for $29 per month. This is both terrible and pragmatic. You don't pay for Facebook because they use your data. Apparently users understand this equation when no money changes hands, but are confused when it does. When are the pay-for-privacy versions of Facebook and Google coming?
